What to expect

All staff at Folkets Hus speak both English and Swedish. Do not hesitate to contact us or ask in person the next time you visit us. We’re happy to help you find what you need or answer any questions!

Unfortunately we do not have the resources to display information about events in other languages besides Swedish at the moment. If you have any questions about details of specific events or tickets, please contact us directly.

About us

Welcome to the place where we make room for change, together!

The local cinema and theater in Boden is operated by the economic association called Folkets Hus (literally: The house of the people). We are an association that is part of the social movement for meeting places and culture for everyone, regardless of things such as differences in age, social or economic standing and so on. Together with other local associations and organizations, we work to bring quality events closer to you.

Do you want to become a part of the house? Please contact us and we’ll tell you more about how to get involved!

Where to go

The main entrance of Saga cinema is located at Drottninggatan 4. Upon entering, you can either head straight for the auditorium or continue further downstairs to buy snacks and tickets. Our toilets are located downstairs as well. Upstairs are our staff areas and a meeting room called Forum located. On the other side of the house, you can find Rondo's main entrance.

When you are ready to find your seats, please present your ticket to our staff standing ready by the entrance of the auditorium.

There is a lift, but no parking directly outside of the cinema. Please refer to Google maps for appropriate parking (like Cedern car park). There is parking reserved for people with disabilities (permit needed) at Kyrkgatan 45-47 and Sadelmakaregatan 1 amongst others.

When should we arrive?

Please arrive about 15 to 30 minutes before showtime depending on the kind of event and if you want to purchase any snacks, to be able to pick up your tickets in time. When buying tickets online, you get them delivered to your email. Showing us the QR code is enough, you don’t have to print your tickets.

Prohibitions

Consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited, except for the ones sold by us at culture events. Exceptions can also be made for closed events such as companies or societies renting our facilities for non-public screening of movies and other purposes. Food, ice cream and strong smells are prohibited in the cinema auditorium. So is taking pictures and recording video or audio of the movies currently screening.

Please leave your bicycle, scooter and other vehicles outside the facilities. Mobility aids are exempt from the prohibition. Before leaving your stroller or walker unattended, please speak with staff on site.

Tickets and gift cards

All tickets and gift cards bought online will be delivered to the email address entered upon purchase. You can also buy tickets and gift cards on site during our standard opening hours (see How to reach us).

Step by step instructions: How to book and buy tickets

Canceling or changing tickets already paid for

Tickets booked but not paid will automatically be released upon showtime. Tickets bought but not used are exhausted when the show has started. If you want to cancel or change your tickets, please contact us by phone well in advance of showtime.

Tickets bought at other vendors

Please contact the provider of your tickets before contacting us. When acting as resellers of tickets, we try to keep necessary information from the organizer on hand. Be aware that we may be unable to answer your questions right away. We can always give you an accurate referral, though.

Free admission for attending staff during work hours

Our policy is to provide free admission for any staff attending people with special needs and/or disabilities. If you’re visiting us in your role as attending staff during your work hours, let us know and in most cases you will be able to enter free of charge.

Gift cards

Gift cards are valid for snacks and tickets to our events. We also accept local gift cards called Cityplay.

What about kids?

Kids that visit us by themselves should be self-dependent. The appropriate age for visits without supervision from a guardian varies between individuals. In general, kids as well as adults in need of supervision, should be accompanied by guardians during their visits at the venue. In other words, they should to be able to do these things on their own:

  • Pick up trash
  • Alert staff in case of trouble or emergency
  • Contact parents or guardians on their own
  • Be able to get to their seats, visit the toilet and so on
  • Find their way out in case of emergency

One ticket admits one person. Only very small children (i.e. babies) are exempt from the rule of having their own ticket on hand. Bringing infants to the cinema can sometimes be inappropriate because of loud noises and bright lights. We have special screenings for small children called Knattebio (knatte is Swedish for ‘runt’ or ‘scrub’).

Age restrictions

If you visit us during movie screenings there may be some age restrictions in place. In Sweden, movies get rated by the Swedish Agency for the Media. Teenagers below the age of 15 may need to be accompanied by an adult older than 18 years of age during screening of movies with the age restriction “From 15 years”. Adults admitting teenagers and kids have to accompany them during the whole event.

Teenagers 15 years or older should bring a valid photo-ID that can verify their age when visiting without adults. Electronic ID:s are OK, but not photographs of ID:s. Age verification is handled before entering the auditorium. Please be on the look-out for the text: “Från 15 år” which means that the movie is age restricted.

Rent our facilities and services

Are you interested in renting our facilities or services? Great! We are able to greatly reduce our pricing due to our local municipality organization (Bodens kommun) partly reimbursing our losses. We offer reduced prices on non-commercial rents (when possible) and a whole venue especially for societies and associations.

Amongst the services we provide are: Event coordination and planning, ticket sales and reporting, hosting and marketing as well as local knowledge of audiences, challenges and possibilities. We are also experts on the building and logistics involving various events like: cinema screenings, performance arts, conferences and more.

Miscellaneous information

Wardrobe and security

Our wardrobe is free, unattended and in most cases voluntary. We set the front doors to exit only during evenings and weekends, allowing you to experience events and movies without disturbances or worries. We always have staff on hand (outside the auditorium or meeting room) ready to respond at your convenience.

Prices

Our prices range from about 100–130 SEK (movie tickets), 100–400 SEK (event tickets), 20–80 SEK (snacks) and 25 SEK (drinks). We have a selection of popular Swedish candy brands and we pop our corn on site, every day, to give you the freshest experience. You are also allowed to bring your own snacks.

Allergies and dietary preferences

Our popcorn is butter flavored using only vegetable ingredients. Our bacon hot-snacks do not contain any meat, they are flavored using liquid smoke, but they do contain dairy as part of the flavoring. For information regarding allergies, please speak with staff on site.

Loud noises during movie screenings

We try to push the volume as loud as comfortably possible during late nights and evening screenings of action movies. At all other times we keep the volume a bit lower for your convenience. We regularly test the volumes by measuring loudness and never exceed volumes that may hurt fully developed eardrums.

If you know that you prefer the volume to be lower, please choose one of our earlier showtimes during the day (e.g. 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 etc). That being said, do you have any questions or remarks regarding volumes – let us know!
